LangChain outlines retrieval methods for agent memory
LangChain reports that agents with limited context windows often fail retrieval through inefficient search, too much context, or irrelevant or stale information. It says Deep Agents keeps searches small with filesystem tools that search before reading and offloads oversized tool results to files.
Why it matters. For agent builders, this favors harnesses and tools that search before reading, page through files, and offload large results so the main agent only sees relevant context.
